Problem solving

Strong analytical and diagnostic skills developed during the degree course and through my hobbies has enabled me to analyse problems, evaluate findings and develop solutions to determine the best course of action.

Developed solutions to guitar neck warping and recommended manufacturing and handling/storage changes to reduce levels of scrap. This formed the basis of my final year dissertation.

Regularly analyse and repair electrical and mechanical faults on items such as computers, cars and bicycles. Design and make items to perform specific tasks such as modifications and fittings for my bike.

Work Experience

CPG Engineering and Design Limited, Sept 2005 - Present (CAD and Engineering Services)

I provide CAD draughtsman services to clients in engineering and architectural businesses on a freelance basis. In February 2006, I changed from sole trader status and formed the limited company. Clients include Waterman Civils, Feakes Hanlon Architects and Cranton Electrical Company.

The Millward Partnership, Aug 2005 - Sept 2005 (Structural & Civil Engineering Consultants)

Babtie Group, Dec 2000 - Aug 2005 (Architects & Consulting Engineers)

I worked within the highways team for local authority clients producing drawings and layouts for road schemes using AutoCAD, AutoSign, and AutoTrack. I managed small projects such as the Anti Skid Surfacing Contract on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. Produced TM drawings, liaised with client and contractor, booked road space, conducted site inspections and approved payments.

I also worked for the architectural department for eight months producing 2D plans and elevations as well as building services (electrical and mechanical) layouts using AutoCAD.

Inclusive Design Ltd, Jun 2000 - Aug 2000 (Architects & CAD Consultants)

I produced 2D architectural CAD drawings from surveys of retail outlets.

Nottingham Trent University, Feb 2000 - June 2000 : Department of Surveying.

I taught 2D AutoCAD in LT 95 to degree students studying surveying.

1996 – 1998 Nottingham Trent University

B.Eng. (Honours) Manufacturing Engineering. Degree result 2:2.

Main modules covered: Materials, Manufacturing processes, CAD/CAM, Business, Mechanical Engineering design.

Final year project: The CNC production of guitar necks. This involved analysing a production problem, researching and evaluating options then recommending solutions. This project drew on my communication, analytical, problem solving and researching skills.

1994-1996 Nottingham Trent University
